There is a bit of a culture of swerving responsibilities in the construction sector.That is why it is so difficult to agree a common solution. Please see the YouTube video posted by Dean Buckner on the thread I started when the Dangerous Cladding Debate was happening in Parliament together with his resume of those involved in the discussions.This is a very big problem.

This problem is now reflected in insurance of buildings and there aren't enough surveyors to survey buildings.  I wonder if that is because it is now too difficult for surveyors to get the Professional Indemnity insurance they need?

This is a start.  As I understand it England's Building Regulations have been changed twice since Grenfell.Scotland's regulations seem to change from 11 storeys + while England's are 18 storeys +There are compartmentation problems in some buildings, insulation problems, other types of cladding problems and  wooden balconies and goodness knows what else.Has the Coroner's Report from the Lakanal House fire which happened before Grenfell actually been acted on now I wonder?  There really is no point in having reports done if they are not acted on. I understood that a FOI request for the number of buildings involved was blocked by Govt.  Is this true?

It’s a ridiculous and nonsensical fudge by the government.  If lower rise buildings aren’t a risk, simply don’t force them comply with the new regulations.  If you’re going to make them comply, provide the same level of financial support.  It’s really not that difficult!

This doesn't go anywhere near dealing with the issue.There are many defects not covered by the loan which amount to 50% of the costs on average.
