Funeral Arrangement

This isn't Putney News and for some people who might be feeling depressed or whatever they are feeling at the moment can this be removed. At lot on here probably have had things happen in the pandemic and don't need this thrust in their faces. Most people don't want to think about death, they want to think positive and get out of this nightmare as soon as possible.  Keep arguing about 20 mph and dog poo anything that has a lighter side please.

Hi Barbara. As I am aware, one doesn't have to be a resident of Putney to be a member of the forum. I do have an affiliation though with Putney. If Admin feel that I should be deleted as a member then that's fine although I have had great feedback from members during my research as an author over the past 10 years.

Yes Philippa, but not on a local forum that Neil isn't a local resident. As Mrs Carter has stated don't talk about dead relations, it's nothing to do with you. Perhaps people want to talk to their own families not open to all early in the morning.

Presumably Baarbara doesn't want to talk about it.  However, death is a subject that needs to be discussed - but many British people seem to find it difficult which makes dealing with it so much harder. We use so many euphemisms.  Some other nationalities seem to manage it better as do some who I think are more religious.I still remember my father telling me that he was past his sell-by date and I just could not talk about it.  We would all have found everything much easier if we had spoken about his wishes and arrangements which in retrospect I think he wanted to tell me about. I so wished later that I had.  In fact I heard an expert in elderly care the other day saying how difficult it can be for the elderly who want to talk about it because no-one will talk to them about their inevitable death.  When they broach the subject - the reply is no you mustn't talk/worry about that.There is a great poem written by Dorothy Duffy honouring her sister Rose who died from Covid "My sister is not a statistic" which was on the radio again today:https://twitter.com/BBCRadio4/status/1354121897915658245
