Sorry if this has already been covered in the vaccines post but I can't plough through the existing 92 posts. Is anyone else a patient at Putneymead in the 70+ group and if so, have you been contacted or do you know when it might happen? I saw the Scout hut on BBC last night and it said it was only opening one day a week I gather through lack of vaccine. Many thanks.

Thankyou Jane. Infusions have been ongoing every 28 days since May 2012 so routine, but they get me out of the house lol. xx

Good luck with both - infusion and vaccine
Jane Carter ● 1185d
@Jane & JonathanI had thought about asking for it but my reservation is that I would have just had an hour's infusion of a powerful drug already and I 'm not sure that I would want the vaccine as well straight afterwards. My worry is that injecting both drugs in such short succession might compromise their efficacy, or even trigger a bad reaction. However the infusion nurses do seem to be able to speak to the duty doctors and consultants quite easily so perhaps I will ask anyway.
Definitely worth a try. They can only so no or explain why you have to wait. I agree with others here that a 12 week wait for the second dose could be too long. And I just hope they don't run out in the meantime. I'm remaining just as cautious anyway.

Could you not ask for the vaccination while you are in the hospitaL? I believe the first group to receive the vaccine were people already in hospital.

Drop should be do. Phone sabotage again.

Nobody really knows how any of these new vaccines will perform Lucille, only time will tell. Furthermore the scientists never seem to agree with each other either which causes confusion and puts doubt in peoples' minds. Yes I drop stay indoors, I have no choice, but I will be going to hospital next week for my monthly infusion and I would feel safer if I had been given the jab already. I go by hospital transport which carry people all day long and I've never seen any cleansing done between trips which is quite worrying.
Lucille, unless Sue has people who come to help her a bit, that's why Sue might be happy to have the vaccine as soon as possible. I only go to Sainsbury's to go out, but I heard about 50 of their staff had the virus before christmas.

If the Pfizer vaccine I received yesterday proves to be ineffective due to the second dose not being given at the appropriate time then both the NHS staff who are working overtime to vaccinate us have wasted time and energy, not to mention money, if the whole exercise has to be repeated. That's more my concern than not actually being fully protected. The community nurse team must be under huge pressure having to give vaccinations on top of their usual work load. If you're not going anywhere nor seeing anyone outside your household you hopefully will be protected until you do have the vaccine Sue. I know other people in your situation, just waiting at home.

@Elizabeth & LucilleBe thankful you've had one dose. I was phoned last week from someone at Putneymead (not a doctor) who said my details were being passed to the community nurse team who would arrange to come and vaccinate me at home. Not heard a thing since.
I also had the first dose of Pfizer at St Thomas's yesterday. A lot of people had to queue up and today (while I am grateful I may have some protection) I am worried that it's all for nothing if the second dose isn't until April. I believe we are the only country that has 12 weeks between each vaccination.
I wonder how it's decided who gets which vaccine. At the Scout Hut last week I was told "you're getting the Pfizer vaccine". No choice.I have a date and time for the second jab, but not until April. Given the BMA's stance publicised today I'm beginning to feel restless.

I've just rang Husbands Chemist as heard one of their Pharmacists was helping by giving the vaccine. I was told if you haven't received a call to say it was cancelled to still turn up.
Barbara Stevens ● 1187d
So it would appear from Ivonne's reply above that they’ve run out of vaccines again!
Mary Walker ● 1187d
Texted on Tuesday, got vaccine on Thursday, very efficient, very smooth operation. I came, they took my name, they gave me the injection. Brilliant.
Hugh Thompson ● 1187d
Had vaccine yesterday at the Scouts Hut it was very efficient, friendly and quick big thank you to the volunteers and NHS staff. I did not have to wait 15 mins after as I walked, but if you do they were supplying a cuppa. Very impressed.

My husband got a text message today from our surgery asking if he would be interested in receiving the vaccine. As suggested, he called the surgery only to be told that they could not give him an appointment as the moment due to the vaccine shortage..... :-(
Ivonne Holliday ● 1187d
For Liam. I don't drive and was asked to wait for 15mins. It was early Jan so all a bit new at the Scout Hall.

I've now received a text from Guys and Thomas's and have my first vaccination there tomorrow afternoon with the second one mid April. So, no idea what happened with St George's nor why it's not within Wandsworth but am delighted to be having it.
Lucille Grant ● 1188d
Its the same with the Pfizer - only asked to wait 15 mins if you are driving
Liam Jones ● 1188d
Apparently with the Astra Zeneca vaccine if you are not driving you can leave immediately afterwards. My husband walked there.
My husband just phoned me after having the vaccine. I suppose he could have misheard but I doubt they'd have let him leave. Perhaps it's a new instruction. Rules seem to change rapidly!
When I went for vaccination at the Scout Hut people who had had the Oxford Vaccine still had to wait 15 minutes.

We've both been contacted and they are working at the Scout Hall today. We are registered with Putneymead. I wonder if the Covid callers are working through the lists alphabetically and this may cause delays.I know the vaccine made in Belgium is delayed for about 3 weeks till they expand their production capacity. From what I've read/heard they expect to catch up on deliveries quickly.I've just heard they're using the Oxford vaccine today at the Scout Hall and the advantage is you don't have to wait for 10 to 15 mins afterwards before leaving.
Hugh I'm with Putneymead and had a text from St George's on Monday: Dear (patient name) if you would like to have the Covid-19 vaccine at St George's Hospital Tooting please reply ATTEND to this message and a member of the team will call you ...It's now Thursday and I still haven't had the promised phone call. I thought it might be a scam so checked on the St George's website. So I'm sitting with my mobile phone like a girl on Thursday night waiting for a date on Saturday LOLBTW We are advised NOT to contact our GP surgery as they are inundated with calls already.
John, I'm not with Putneymead, but why not ring them and say you have a problem with your mobile phone and didn't know if they had tried to contact you. Then they might be able to give you a date.

Wandsworth Labour (@WandswrthLabour) Tweeted: Our Assembly Member @LeonieC on BBC London tonight - Putney and Battersea are both struggling to supply enough vaccines. People are worried about delaying or even missing out on vaccination. https://t.co/GiU6g7tCeLhttps://twitter.com/WandswrthLabour/status/1351976708845539518?s=20
