It’s another issue that will probably polarise people, Barbara. We’ve just sold our car, based mainly on the fact we barely use it and have worked out it will be significantly cheaper to simply hire one for those weekends where we make long journeys, but also partly for environmental reasons. I could never be described as an ardent environmentalist (I love flying too much for that), but recognise, as most of us do nowadays, that we have a responsibility to future generations to take what steps we can to save the planet. For us, getting rid of the car seemed like one of those steps. As such I’m afraid I’m in favour of this extension. Many of my local friends are in their thirties, so a bit younger than me, and I can’t think of any of them who actually own car - mainly for affordability reasons, partly because they live in apartments and don’t have access to parking, but also because for their generation owning a car just isn’t a thing any more, so I doubt they’ll be bothered either wayAll that said, I know that for older people and those with young children having your own vehicle is seen as a must. What I don’t know is how many of those people own vehicles that fall under the ULEZ regulations. My instinct is that it’s a very small number, but happy to defer to anyone who has access to evidence or data around this
