Sue, don't worry about the haulage companies going bust, they'll just add the new costs to their charges so it will be us, the consumer, paying for it. As I've noted before, it's the SMEs trying to export who will be made - are being made - uncompetitive and who will be put out of business. Any rational government would have agreed to putting the deal in place folloiwing an extended transition period until the government's own IT systems and guidance were ready, and businesses had time to adapt. Doing a deal and the enacting it within three working days was unrealistic.
