I think whether we get a new government after 2024 probably depends on how competently the government handles Covid  over the next 12-18 months and how well the economy performs post Covid and under the new trade deals. Let's hope there's plkenty oif nbew jobs for those teenagers bounced off the Erasmuys scheme who are becoming first time votes ... Let's see what the new Turing programme looks like and hope it's better organised than the critical test-trace-isolate scheme. With regard to voting: people vote on the least worst option so it seems pointless to me comparing how one voted one or two years ago with how they voted today. People often votes tactically or for the least worst option, and today it was either the deal agreed on Christmas Eve or no deal. Labour could have abstained, however there was a risk that was no absolute the ERG and other extreme Brexiteers would support it - although as it turns out even the ERG wouldn't risk a no deal. The fact that Labour or anyone else voted for the deal doesn't mean they agree with all of it or can't criticise it. Somneone may vote for a political party or a particular candidate at a general election but it doesn't mean they support all of the policies associated with that party or candidate and might wish to influence them.I suspect even the current government will move back closer to the EU as those numerous committees discuss things, particular if the Tory partly business donors and happy with aspects in the deal ....
