Thames Path

One can pleasantly walk for miles along the Thames Path and it's such a shame to then have to cross the decidedly unpleasant series of traffic lights this side of the Bridge.  If there was a path that went along the side of St Mary's and under the road avoiding the need to cross the road on the bridge it would be an incredible improvement for pedestrians. I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of it and presumably it's just not feasible.

I think at high tide it would need to be close to the centre of the nearest span. Probably not practical.

They should just bolt a metal walkway onto the riverside wall and avoid arguing with landowners.

It's an excellent idea, John, and one that's been kicking around for a long time. As far as I remember (others may have better recall) the plan, such as it was, has foundered on the cost, on who owns the relevant part of land (St Mary's Church, and I don't think they were at all keen to relinquish it) and on the problem of flooding at high tides.Time to try again with it!?
