Missing children in Richmond Park

From NextdoorAs  you may be aware 2 children under 8 went missing in the park yesterday but  thankfully were promptly found after a makeshift search party quickly formed whilst waiting for the police. After so much negativity and animosity about the  park on this site in recent months it was great to see all park users whether cyclists, motorists runners  or dog walkers come together without hesitation to help out those in need. This is the community we are and need to remember when tensions flare as to use of our wonderful space.Isn't this great news?  Fantastic!!

Having enjoyed using the Park over very many years and knowing it very well indeed, as both a youngster when the Park reopened after WW2, and much later as a parent with children, I cannot understand how these two small children, less than eight years old, got lost. What were the parents or whoever was in charge of them, doing to allow this to happen?The searchers deserve all of our thanks for successfully finding them.Jim. Melbourne.

Jane,It is not my post.  As indicated at the beginning of my post, it was a post from Nextdoor which I copy-pasted in its entirety. The point to be highlighted is how wonderful that the children were found safe and well and how many people volunteered for the search which had a very happy ending before the police arrived.

I don't think there has been 'much negativity and animosity about the park on this site'. I am sure we all appreciate this wonderful resource and we are very lucky to have it. The arguments have centred around excessive traffic and pollution.As keen walkers in the park, many of us would like to be included in your list of 'users' even if we don't have a dog. In all the arguments round cars and bicycles (I know, I know) we do seem to have been a bit forgotten.
