Pissoirs to replace Parklets

As the Uber/Deliveroo drivers do not have  ant toilet facilities and deem to be using the streets and parklets as urinals and even worse perhaps it is time for Positivly Putney to face reality and replace the parklets with French-style pissoirs. The present inititive was well-meant but is not working as intended. - ssd to say. (I spoke to one driver urinating on the street yesterday and he rrplied hr had no choice as all the restaurant/pub toilets were closed). I hate to think what a bacteriological swab of the parklets would throw up.

Ed. Given the percentage that the delivery company's take it wouldn't seem unreasonable to make it their responsibility. I'll take you word on the guidance but it might be an ambiguous area?

Michael, my understanding is that the out lets were only open for click and collect and allowing non-employees on the premises could put them the wrong side of the guidance. There is a post of the other Web site suggesting there may be anonymous inspections too.You would normally expect the contractual party to make arrangements. They get paid by the delivery companies.I believe there are bus driver toilets at the Spencer Arms and the Green Man. The Online delivery companies could have made similar arrangement.

Ed. Agreed, I was pushing the boundaries but the drivers are having some contact with the outlets and I'm not sure the drivers are completely random. They are contracted to someone (Uber Eats, Deliveroo, etc)  - can one assume they do some vetting or could my vegan humous and falafel be delivered by a mad axe murderer? And if the drivers are hanging around chatting when not delivering food that suggests they might be regular workeres at that location. I was just looking for a solution that might be acceptable ... . Having said that, I have used technical facilities in IT companies where I've had to be chaperoned when leaving the room I've been working in - and it's interesting the number of times someone's got fed up and just given me their pass ...

Michael I think your comparison is being a bit hard on the food outlets. They could be fined or closed I suspect under the lock down guidance.Also you working full time on a customer site I assume you had to sign in and that there was security etc isn't the same as allowing anyone with a crash helmet on the premises. I think outlets that have their own drivers will be different but anyone can turn up to collect the delivery - I do not think it is necessarily the case that the staff know all the third party drivers.

I would think that's the case, Ed. But if they're providing a service to nearby food outlets via their contract to Uber then those outlets should still provide facilities? When I worked for a software house and was on a customer's premises I expected to use their loo rather than go into the street ☺

Michael I suspect many of the drivers are not employed by the food establishment but provided via the online delivery companies.My understanding (may be wrong) was that recent court decisions actually ruled that they were self employed and not entitled to minimum wage etc from the online companies.

Probably not in the evening when many food deliveries take place. Shouldn't the food establishments using delivery drivers be obliged to provide toilet facilities with hand washing facilities so there's no chance of food contasiners or packaging becoming contaminated with germs?
