How many 'non' readers of the daily Mail appreciated the article today by former political reporter Suzanne Moore,who was bullied out of her job by ultra woke employees re trans rights?  A travesty re freedom of speech

I believe JK Rowling is also accused of being a TERF.  It’s a bit of a minefield and one I’m neither suitably qualified nor brave enough to attempt to navigate.  The only thing I know is that many of my younger work colleagues (who are all lovely and very sensible) feel VERY strongly on this issue.  One of those issues where I feel like an old fart

I'd only heard the term a couple of times myself and didnt know what it was. TERF is an acronym for trans-exclusionary radical feminist. Coined in 2008, the term was originally applied to a minority of feminists espousing sentiments that other feminists consider transphobic, such as the rejection of the assertion that trans women are women, the exclusion of trans women from women's spaces, and opposition to transgender rights legislation. The meaning has since expanded to refer more broadly to people with trans-exclusionary views who may have no involvement with radical feminism.

She was called out below the line for being a TERF.She quit her own job, she wasn't forced out.No one is shutting down anyone's freedom of speech.  Just challenging hate-speak in a time where trans people are being bullied, murdered and committing suicide in high numbers.

I just read the article that she wrote, or at least i think it was the right one.Didn't seem particularly controversial to me but then i'm not affected by the issues so i suppose it wouldnt.Perhaps we need a trans person on the forum to tell us what was wrong with the article?Any volunteers?

David, I'm sorry that I did not make myself clear.  It was not the bullying I was concerned about as the shutting down of free speech. To me that is deplorable.  Just imagine if you were unable to criticize me as a Brexiteer simply because you held a different opinion! Goodness me, there would be no entertaining Forum.  How boring!
