Lidl - favourite regular buys

Now that Lidl will be with us soon I thought it might be practical and worthwhile if we shared our favourite buys. Mine are -1) Deluxe Dry Aged 30-day matured Hereford Rib Eye Steak £3.99 (227G £17.58 per kg.) Top quality from frozen aisle.2) Lidl Nespresso-compatible coffee pod £1.39 for 10 - just as good as Nespresso at more than half the price.3) Formil laundry detergents and W5 household cleaning products - just as good, maybe even better, than the big brands at about half the price.4) Shark razor blades £2.99 x 4 - German-made and much better than the very expensive Gillette Fusion rip-off (£11.50 for 4 blades at Sainsburys).So, if you are not a slave to the big brands you can do yourself a big favour by at least trying Lidl with an open mind - Roll on 2021!

Agree. Also potato salad with yogurt - add a few bits of gherkin, chopped hard boiled egg, dill etc and seems to pass as homemade!

Imagine being in a German Lidl, where a rather tasty Rioja can be bought for €2.That's why I fill the car whenever we are over there!

Montepulciano at £4.85 a bottle. 'Deluxe' Sicilian cheesecake. The almond croissants from the bakery. Packets of fresh herbs. Melt in the middle salted caramel deserts. Cheap cold and flu tabs. Blueberries. Lamb steaks.

Absolutely.  We always buy their pannetone in December and keep one for bread and butter pudding in June. A slug of marsala is fab in it too.

Christmas food like panettone.  Panettone keeps brilliantly well for a long while so a good store cupboard item and if you don't use it as it is can be turned into the best bread and butter pudding with eggs and milk and a little extra cut mixed peel.Jars of hors d'oeuvre for the store cupboard to be eaten as hors d'oeuvre or mixed into pasta or cous cous.  The little pickled onions are delicious.Tinned tomatoes, baked beans, other beans and sweetcorn.European cheeses that you often can't get elsewhere.They used to not cover their veg in plastic but unfortunately I think that has changed now.

Luxury muesli packed with fruit and nuts is a favourite of mine. Better than any equivalent I've tried from any other retailerMy German wife thinks it's hilarious that brits regard Lidl and Aldi as down-market. For them it's just another type of shop; low prices but limited selection. Edeka is their Sainsbury's equivalent. I wonder if they will be crossing the channel?

I love the praline chocolates though. Have shopped in lidl before it was "fashionable" and their deli foods have always been outstanding. Hams, prosciutto and their sliced edam is fab.  They have an excellent wine selection and the clean Ng stuff is really. My daughter thinks their nappies are the best. Also we have the lidl plus app so you can get discounts.Love their Christmas selection and we always buy pannetone, pandoros and stolen from there. Can you tell I'm a fan 😉

Lidl is fine for meat (I'll give them that). Away from that I can't see where their as good as zero customer service will gel with the Putney yummy mummies/working from home daddies.Waitrose and Sainsbury won't be $hitting their pants!
