I am not Michael, but I can say if you right-click on the link, the drop down list says open in a new tab, on this and the flicker photograph will open there.

But why are people attempting to send uninvited private emails to other Forum members? Surely it is at least polite to ask the other person whether you may mail them privately?

Well done Jane for not answering on the forum. It was a private email. If Barbara can’t read it herself then I suggest she forwards it in confidence to a friend who can then print it out for her. She can then reply by letter, that revolutionary method of communicating person to person.Nick

Jonathan, when I lived in the West Mids, your definition of the North was correct. The Potteries  are the Midlands, imo.  However when I moved to London, I became a Northerner, that’s how I am seen by Southerners.   When my husband had his first job down here, someone used to whistle the Hovis tune when he walked in the office.  
Yes we had school dinner.  I have never been able to bring myself to say the word “supper”.  It’s tea or dinner in our house.

Martine, the Real North starts just south of Manchester, possibly including the Potteries but no further south than that. Yes we had tea in the evening and we had dinner at lunchtime. I thought we all had school dinners.

So it might not be from Jane. Could simply be a scam email that has attached to Jane's email address.I occassionally get these purporting to be from people on my contacts but once they have codes or request that you open attachments best to delete unopened.

I am unable to read as it keeps wanting codes to put in on internet explorer. I have a pay as you go phone and only get texts. I don't work now and don't need a fancy phone.

I know that it is a tangent off of a tangent, but I discovered that an actor who I had considered wonderful in the film "The Battle of Algiers", playing a French colonel of paratroops, fighting to keep Algeria French, had earlier played the part of "Lucky" in the first (1953) production of "Waiting for Godot". I’m too old to have watched Grange Hill, but give me that any time over Waiting for Godot. Lol. The English teacher who organised the class trip was Oxbridge educated.  He Remained throughout the play.  The teachers who walked out were down to earth northerners, they were the Leavers!

I did wonder, not for the first time, what David was talking about and had to Google Estragon.  they are a character from Waiting for Godot, a play that was inflicted on my school class during a theatre visit.  Even one of our English teachers walked out, said it was pretentious and boring, and went for a coffee, leaving us teenagers to suffer. Back to the thread, I await with interest Jane’s response.

Has she  any reason to 'moan' about you Barbara? Why would you think that if you haven't read the email? If it is private  then there is no need for her to post it publicly here. Perhaps she should resend the email to you instead.

Caroline , Jane has sent me an E=mail  which I am unable to open. But if Jane is moaning about me I would prefer her to be open about it and put it on the main forum. But as Jane is not answering perhaps she is wishing she hadn't. As her roll is obviously not of the moderator.
