I am sorry Phillipa, but comparing the US and/or the UK with Kiribati is a non-starter!Kiribati has an area of 811 sq. km.  The UK has 242,495 sq. km.  The US has 9.834 million sq km.

Joanna Haigh told us that scientists had been telling us for the last thirty years that there was a climate change problem and that we needed to reduce the CO2 we were producing.  The richest countries like the US and the UK have such an enormous carbon footprint compared to countries such as Kiribati.

I 2018 I went to the Science Museum with a group of friends to the London Premiere of the film Anote's Ark.  This was followed by a discussion with some scientists including Professor Joanna Haigh at that time Professor of Atmospheric Physics at Imperial College and Co-Director of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment.We were also lucky enough for the film to be introduced by the Hon Consul for Kiribati and to enjoy some dancing from two I-Kiribati dancers.This includes a trailer for the film and an interview with the ex-President and with the Canadian film director Matthieu Rytzhttps://eventsforlondon.co.uk/event/anotes-ark-documentary-screening/

The very right wing Guido Fawkes made a very snide observation about this  list on his Order-Order website - not one woman in actual power is listed (he had images of Priti Patel, Liz Truss and - wait for it - Anne-Marie Trevelyan at the head if his brief piece).  He entirely missed the point about how influential the women  on the list actually are, especially the calm, articulate, authoritative and personable Caroline Lucas.  One MP representing 850,000 Green voters - an excellent case for Proportional Representation there!

Good to see Joanna High, a previous head of physics at IC on the list. (After one of her public lectures I once asked her if she'd discussed climate change with Piers Corbyn, an alumnus of the IC physics department - not in the public Q&A session I should add.)
