Of course it's a fallacy that subscribing to a 'green energy' provider makes any difference to the supply that comes to your house. The whole idea of having competing providers is a bit surreal when it makes no difference to what you actually get. The only way to do this is to have your own solar panels or wind or water generator, which was something we all got excited about in our early Friends of the Earth days. How disappointing it was that, once 'green' became 'popular' the big utility companies moved in and genuinely local, off grid initiatives faded away.
