Pets At Home coming to Putney

They are taking the former Allied Carpets on the URR adjacent to Sainsbury's Very good retailer.

This was once a ,can you believe it, a shorted  stock,serious players thought its share price would go down. I  am not serious, I bought and sold,its now a great pet of mine.

I fully endorse Mucky Pups. They have ordered a specific type of frozen raw dog food in for me specially, as they didn't carry it. Charged me the same price as Pets At Home.The staff in there are always friendly and helpful.I'm going tomorrow for dog and budgie provisions. I've even bought a good quality rain coat and dog collar from there.They welcome my dog into the shop. Shop local!

I agree Carl about the works taking too long.Time in some instances is as important as cost.

Freddie - I'm really not interested in these negative reviews having used Pets at Home for a number of years myself and cannot fault them. In any case,  it's a company willing to take over a large empty spot on Upper Richmond Road  so for heaven's sake let's be supportive. None of the shops you mention are near me (Mucky Pups being the nearest and I found them pretty useless when I used to live nearer DHR)and why would I go to Barnes (not local in my book).

Mucky Pips is an excellent pet shop, I bought my snake from them over 20 years ago when they had a section for reptiles.  However the shop is small and although well stocked it obviously does not offer the vast product choice of much larger shops, plus online shopping that is vital for some people.  Regardless of P@H coming to Putney I would think MP has a large and loyal customer base who will continue to support the shop.I often shopped at Pets At Home at Raines Park to buy tropical fish or if I wanted a particular brand of cat food or to buy bulky items like a cat bed or carrier etc. I always found the staff and service to be fine and I don't trust TrustPilot reviews anyway.

HalloMucky Pups in the parade of shops just before the traffic lights at Roehampton Lane is brilliant, helpful, well-stocked and the staff are extremely knowledgeable. Plus dog grooming! An independent shop, so why not give them a try?

The Barnes shop is one bus ride away from Lower Common.

Well, all I've done is put the reviews in front of you. Take the time to sample a few. Quite shocking some of them and their rate of 60% bad reviews is not what Id call a glowing recomendation. You'll porobably get a better deal online. We did buying cat food after using Pats@ down in New Malden. Never been back.

Yes.. I apologize to Mucky Pups..  It's obviously relative but when you are elderly and live near Lower Common, there ARE no pet shops around..  2 buses to get to URR

@Lucile, - as someone just stated, Mucky Pups on the URR plus Pets Corner in in Barnes (not Putney but still local) are the closest, Master's Touch Putney Br Rd,(grooming but that's a service Pets@ have too), Hurlingham Pet Shop New Kings Rd. Maybe not as convenient but something to consider. Given the reviews and friom what I already knew of Pets@ I would be thinking twice. Some of the negative reviews are very strongly worded.

Obviously Freddie you do no pet shopping.  What smaller pet shops! ?  The vet has a few limited supplies and there is Sainsbury and Tesco  But far easier to do it online

Mucky Pups on the URR (by Dover House Road) are excellent. It's a small shop, but is well stocked and they have a dog grooming service too. That whole parade of shops could benefit with some more support at the moment because the council have been digging up the road/parking for months (before COVID if people can remember those times). It's impacted the trade in the shops. It would be a big loss to the people living in the Dover House Estate if the shops had to close because the council are taking an absurdly long time to do the work.

Freddie - which smaller local pet shops do we have in Putney? We have  been ordering online from Pets at Home for years and very happy with their service. Now we will be able to support them as a local shop instead. Good news for Putney's pets I'd say.
