Because it's the truth? He himself admitted to it. Why be open about this? Well openness is a great thing. Jimmy Saville has not been convicted of a single offense.I'm not seeking to "tar"  him - he was a complex personality and crimes beyond the pale today were only slightly frowned upon 40 years ago. 50 years ago, homosexual acts were illegal. Nonetheless, it does seem likely that he was a wife beater - on a worse level than Jonny Depp

I was fortunate enough to have actually met Sean Connery many years ago in Richmond. He was absolutely lovely to speak to and even better looking in the flesh!!

I liked Sean Connery. Particularly in that he did good films apart from Bond - The Name of The Rose and First Knight are 2 that immediately spring to mind.Apparently though he was a wife beater. Such a shame. Not such a hero after all.

I liked the fact that RM was playing Bond as the archetypal smooth English gentleman and the touch of humour was a bit different. However he will always be remembered as The Saint! 😇

Ivonne, sorry I was being sarcastic.  Dalton isn’t even 2nd for me in the list of Bonds,  as I think Daniel Craig is brilliant in the role. Sorry Sue, but Roger Moore was too humorous, I didn’t like him as Bond.  He will forever be The Saint for me.😇

Very sad news indeed and I agree that Sean Connery was the best Bond.  But I must say, the beginning of A spy who loved me was absolutely amazing and unique!

I agree Sue, the best Bond ever. 
We lost the 2 best Bond girls this year too: Honor Blackman and Diana Rigg.
