UK to "reset" sat nav plans after scrapping work on £5bn Galileo rival

So, if I can sum things up,* May’s plans for a British version of the Galileo GPS navigation system have been junked, wasting £92 million (the Daily Telegraph);* The government then invested £400 million in buying a chunk of the bankrupt OneWeb company (the BBC and many other news outlets); * The investment in OneWeb was made against the advice of government advisers  (Computer Weekly); * This great idea (lol) was evidently all the plan of would-be genius Dominic Cummings (the FT); and* The company's attempt to build a GPS navigating system was called into question by experts consulted by the parliamentary Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee (Computer Weekly again).It would be hard to find a worse example of a self-inflicted mess

It looks like OneWeb's financial problems also are requiring reorganisation of its launch schedule, I assume the government looked into that during its due diligence prior to its deal?https://spacenews.com/arianespaces-revised-oneweb-contract-drops-ariane-6-two-soyuz-launches/On detailed analysis it appears the system isn't suitable for conversion to one for navigation but doing worry, it's only ore taxpayers' money:https://spacenews.com/arianespaces-revised-oneweb-contract-drops-ariane-6-two-soyuz-launches/I expect the EU will happily let us rejoin the military grade part of the Galileo system provide the UK also rejoins the EU, or EEA. Johnson just needs to get his deal out of the oven or it will be in edible, what's he waiting for?
