"car park by Isabella Plantation is still closed"Ivonne - on weekdays you can get to it via Roehampton, Richmond or Kingston gate.Weekends the route from Roehampton Gate towards sheen is blocked, from Roehampton Gate you can only get to Roehampton Car Park or the Pen Ponds car park only. So you have to use Richmond Gate or Kingston gate at weekends.Enjoy before the parking charges.

I agree Alan.I also think they could levy more money with fines for commercial vehicles cutting through the park and speeding fines on cyclists and motorists.It is interesting to note there will be no charges for motorcycles. Why? They pollute too and take up parking space.If there was a pricing structure for car occupancy I may change m mind.I have noted that the blue badge car places are under occupied. Have they got too many? Or are they doing enough to encourage blue badge holders to visit? Lots of good work done on Isabella  Plantation access but only seeing the odd car in that car park.It's very accessible now if anyone is unsure and well worth a visit.

If the park has charges, then the surrounding roads will be full of parked cars (like during lockdown).  Roehampton gate was lethal with cars parked on both sides of the road and others trying to drive / u-turn along with people walking and cycling, electric scootering, buggy pushing etc etc. Battersea Park has parking charges, Wimbledon Common is voluntary.It seems odd to charge for parking whilst also allowing vehicles to go through the park as part of their commute (from Kingston to Richmond Gate, and Richmond Gate to Roehampton Gate).If parking charges do get introduced then I'd like to see that money spent on policing of litter louts.  Direct imprisonment, do not pass go, do not collect £200!

I am totally against it.  Public parks are for the public in any which way.  I don't know if they have a system like our levy for Putney and Wimbledon commons, I think that would be fair.Why are they doing it, are they short of money?

I normally walk, or take a bus or train to get there these days. Last time I drove a it was to take someone with a blue badge there. Hence, I don't have strong views. It might be better to charge a toll on those using it as a through route? I guess some sort of rationing might be needed if one can no longer drive all the way round and therefore people might be inclined to stop?
