Dover House Road traffic diversions from 31 Aug

Received a confusing map through the letterbox today, outling new traffic measures in West Putney - part of which is preventing anyone from Upper Richmond Road getting to Putney Heath and vice versa because the bottom end of Dover House Road will be excluded to vehicles. What a nightmare. How is anyone living near the excluded zone supposed to get to Putney? By doing a loop via Putney Heath? This will only push traffic onto Roehampton Lane, Carslake and Putney Hill. DHERA, if they're responsible for this NIMBY-ism, have never spoken for us - we live at the top end of Dover Park Drive and won't even be able to zip down to the Upper Richmond shops without a major diversion. We're encouraged to use our local shops, but this will just drive people away. Rant ends.

I agree that does not seem to be clear on how to turn anything around at that point unless they intend to  eat into the roundabout more than illustrated. It's still extremely tight and would be three point turn as you suggest.

How on earth will delivery vehicles be able to turn around? I must be missing something, but that is how it loooks to me.

If you are referring to the point closure on Huntingfield Road, it is not only baffling but will create a great hardship for residents. It seems to mean that residents entering Huntingfield from either side of the point closure have no escape in the same direction of travel. From my side of the split there is no access to the mini roundabout at Parkstead. Therefore everyone this side will have to execute a 3 point turn in the road because they have to turn around to exit. If the road is lined either side with parked cars it will be virtually impossible. No one would choose to use the congested length of Huntingfield as a rat run, so why block it in the middle and create this headache for residents?

Simon, the no access signs at Putney Heath and Upper Richmond Road should address the through traffic. What is less clear is the need to split the estate in two.Perhaps someone can explain?

I live within Dover house and I am not involved in any groups or lobbying  etc but welcome an attempt to limit high speed traffic using the residential area as a cut through. Roehampton Lane is 30mph so they can go and do that there (could do with a speed cam on there). Also it seems a zig zag route remains through if you don't want to go via Roehampton Lane or Putney Hill. I've a young family, need to drive for work and will be equally inconvenienced by these measures but we really need to try something else. I really welcome it.

Will are you connected with the council?Or is the statement you made just your personal belief?Trials are only trials if they have published acceptance criteria.How will this trial be measured?Under what circumstances will it be altered or removed?

Hello Will,It may be a trial but it sounds as a fait accompli. I find it rather insulting that, as a resident, I am not allowed to drive (if I need to) down Dover House Road but they are all allowed to use Medfield Street to their hearts content.  And yes, I am in a cantankerous mood.

First, it just a trial so if most people in the area agree that it is intolerable to not be able to drive to the local shops then it will be removed. However, experience elsewhere suggests that many people discover that they are able and happy to walk or cycle for short journeys instead and are prepared to do so in return for the reduction in pollution, congestion and speeding vehicles using their neighborhood as a rat run.Time and experience will show.

Hello Roy, Yes, I received a letter through our letterbox this morning and it will be a nightmare. There is another post on this on the Forum and I believe is entitled West Putney Low Traffic Neighbourhood.
