Earlier today, I learnt that the proposed closure of St Helier's hospital A&E, key maternity services, including the birthing centre and labour ward centres as well as moving the Queen Mary's Hospital for Children off the St Helier hospital site and build a new mergency care hospital in Belmont, Sutton.

I am rather taken aback. Is this what recruiting 20,000 new police officers and building 40,000 new hospitals means?
At the time, I was very anti closing A&E at Queen Mary's Hospital. I was also speechless that a hospital left to the nation was sold off, a new smaller hospital built and the rest was given to developers — and not a penny of the profit of the sales of the new development was given to the NHS.
Deja vu?
