Thanks Richard. I think I said earlier it looked like a high risk, long shot. I would say that if it can be adapted for navigational purposes then (unless I'm missing something) commercial viability and data capacity may not matter. My understanding is that the GPS and Galileo satellite navigational systems are funded as defence infrastructure and only broadcast location signals so capacity and charging aren't relevant. What is interesting is that the orbit height of OneWeb satellite is 1200 km versus 550 km for Starlink ones meaning that that the SpaceX service should have lower latency (the real speed determinant) so Starlink seems to have an advantage there as a communications provider; although, again, I can't see that matters relevant for a navigation system. But, yes, they are gambling with our money!
