Should Parliament go on summer break?

I find it quite difficult to accept that Parliament is going on its summer break, as if nothing important was happening at the moment.Coronovirus - the aftermath of the initial spike and the possibility of a second one in the autumn (three month's time?), the state of the economy, Brexit and the likely no-deal, climate change is also pressing, should MPs go on holiday?I think not!

Thanks, Clifford. I made a guess on that! I suspect Johnson might want a break from PMQ - it must be very taxing coming up with all that creative waffle, and being out maneuvered by one's own back benchers must be tiring ... that pandemic and Bruxit talks will look after themselves ....

The summer recess for MPs arose because of the famous summer Victoria stink of the river Thames, that having been said it does look something like dereliction to have a summer recess this year what with the state of the nation, but when our PM acts like a spoilt child chucking his toys out the pram who knows what may happen next.

Time for parliament to recognise it's inthe 21st century.  They're no longer all from the landed gentry who have to go back to their  estates for the harvest, and this year there's unlikely to be freebies to golf courses in Florida or collectives in Cuba ...

Totally agree... Country is in a mess to put it diplomatically. Also having months when the government isn't "held" to account by the opposition more than ever!
