Trade and industrial strategies are determined by nation states. Most major nation states  (US,  UK, China, Russia, etc) are multi racial. But lost where this thread is going?

I think most people would agree when it comes to race we hope we're a bit more enlightened than our parents.I was going to point out the three fold increase in hate crimes since Covid-19 and the fact that confusing race with countries/states has long been unacceptable.As the BLM movement illustrates we all have a long way to go!

I would welcome Jacinda Ardern with open arms!  I think she is really great, one of a kind.  In addition to COVID-19, the problems with the EU and US trade deals plus the relationship with China and Russia are very worrying too.  In some ways I do not think these are altogether accidental developments. On a slightly different matter, but yet very much in tune with our times at the moment, I really agree with this article: http://www.theuncensoredreport.com/2020/06/when-everyone-kneels-who-will-stand-up-for-western-history-and-culture/ I believe we should learn from our history, however unpleasant some episodes have been.  Eradicating it or even erasing it, is for me an anathema of common sense as well as counterproductive.  If you do not have the foundations, nothing above them will be secure.  It is like bringing up a child with no boundaries — chaos....

It will be an "interesting" period. Not only do we have the continuing Covid situation and what's looking like a mess with EU and US trade deals; now we have the developing situation with Chinese and Russian relationships while the US - the World's leading economy - seems to be going haywire! Chatting with some mates on Zoom last night we came up with a solution for the UK: reverse colonisation by New Zealand; let them run the UK - although they probably wouldn't want us after we recently spoilt there zero Covid position ...

I often wonder what will be happening in 12-18 months.  I do think there will be an enormous change, but how far-reaching it will be, who knows?

Thanks, Ivonne. One of my own favourites; I snapped it on the way to a meeting in the Wharf one morning. I wonder how many of those workers will have returned to commuting in 12-18 months time?
