Byron Burgers -Goodbye and Good Riddance?

I will be delighted to see the back(pun intended) of Byron burgers in Putney  - hopefully a new tenant will have some respect for the local residents and neighbours. Their bin area was invariably very dirty and I cannot recall it ever being cleaned. There was always a dirty black cooking-fat residue covering the area, which never seem to have been washed down. I have even seen a employee illegally dump waste cookingfat down the street drainage. Yes Michael, we must all bow down to the new God of Consumerism. Traders on the High St. can block our footpaths with their A-boards and block the street by taking illegal deliveries during restricted hours, employ people on zero-hour contracts - and expect us to spend our hard-earned money with them without question. Also, surely it is (a) in the interests of landlords of empty properties to keep their frontages presentable  andnot the business of Positively Putney. and (b) if it is best practice for pubs to  use re-useable glasses they should pay for it themselves. By all means shop local but not at any cost- moral, environmental or commercial.

Tim, you keep coming back on these comments - it's like whack-a-mole. Haven't you understood how the country now works? It's b****** you Jack, I'm alright. Protections of the environment, employees' rights, food standards and the rest are for the dustbin at the expense of free trade. Just as public health must give way to "the economy".Eat, drink and be merry in Amityville, because mayor Johnson is re-opening the beaches. Who cares about one rogue shark? Darwin must be allowed to do his work.

That is simply another matter not relevant to a discussion on whether Byron is an asset to the community. In any case it looks like Byron had in the past a few questions to answer to the Home Office regarding its work and hiring practices. When a business constantly keeps a very dirty bin area and allows staff to pour waste cooking oil down the street drains I do not consider it an asset to the community. Likewise if it continues to take deliveries from suppliers parked on the High St. during restricted hours. These are all anti-social activities and if this is the price we are expected to pay to have them then quite simply we are better off without them. Putney deserves better.

The effect of on line shopping,home delivery and the lock down is that we are going to have to get used to more and more empty shops on the High Street. Those that rub their hands at the demise of any business are playing Madame Defarge at the guillotine

Thanks Timothy,Byron was awarded a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 (Very Good) by London Borough of Wandsworth on 31st October 2019.I can't see the any photos in the link you gave - I assume the above was reported.The only time I reported something to Wandsworth concerning food hygiene at a completely unrelated business several years ago, their response was very effective and efficient.Perhaps someone can enlighten us if the inspection includes bins etc.https://www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk/business/byron--447265.html
