That's a fab video! Great audio of the bats' noise, even the jogger plip-plopping past was so clear. Bats are such beautiful and fascinating little creatures.

Hi Sue. I carried a small digital camera for a while, now the camera suffices - as a colleague of mine used to say: your best camera is the one you've got with you. Can't remember if I posted these videos from last year on the Putney site or just on my FB timeline; they were taken on the towpath adjacent to the Wetlands centre.https://flic.kr/s/aHsmFmVigsI think the phone box has only been outside the Lodge Hotel for a couple of years.

Hi Michael. You and your camera certainly get about! I went to a couple of business meetings at the Lodge Hotel about 10 years ago and the telephone box wasn't there then. I didn't recognise the hotel now with that stuck in front of it. Looks bizarre.
@Sue. Yes, Wandsworth Park is a great amenity for all ages. In the 80s when our friends had young children we often went to the childrens playground there after Sunday lunches to give the cats some respite! We've seen bats in Wandsworth Park a couple of times but not been on an organise walk. We have been on organised walks on Wimbledon Common and the Barnes Wetlands Centre - they have daubentons skimming over the water as well pipistrelles - but if the weather's right one can normally see pipistrelles over the towpath from Beverley Brook to alongside the Wetlands Centre up to the old Harrods Repository (now a housing estate). The phone box is in an alcove at the front of the Lodge Hotel on the URR, between Manfred Road and Schubert Road. I guess it's there for the tourists - one of the few places in London now where they can see one!
We're very lucky to live so close to the park Michael. Have you ever been on one of the FoWP bat walks? I think that would be right up your street. Didn't get why the old telephone kiosk is at the entrance of that house. Any idea?
