Rhodes

Presumably if the statue is removed the Rhodes scholarships will no longer exist?  Equally, if the Guys founder statue goes, will the Hospital?  Ludicrous double standards.Put all controversial statues into a museum..Or perhaps it should only be Personal statues? There is always somebody who doesn't approve of someone. How about queen Elizabeth !?  Queen Victoria?  Boadicea.? Consign all to the scrap heap. No discussion. No favouritism  Simple

The scholarships are administered as a trust. I don't think there's any direct connection with the statue which I assume was erected to acknowledge the bequest from Rhodes. As far as I know there's been no demand to change the name of the trust. Looking at Wikipedia, as previous changes to the trust seem to have required an act of parliament I can't see a name change coming anytime soon ...

Barbara, Hitler built roads, boosted the economy, improved Germany no end, until we knew the truth.  Even if accidentally statues were erected to him, do you think they would be allowed to stay up.I was in Hungary in the 1990s when statues of Communist leaders were being pulled down, it was the will of the people and I agree.  Statues should be left in museums and confined to learning about history.  Do you really think the statue of Colston said below that he made all his money from capturing and selling slaves and forcing them into a cruel and abusive miserable life?
