Shouldn't we be able to get something better - like cleaner air - out of this?

Bunny, ‘twas ever thus. The present government is particularly blatant but they are following in a long and dishonourable tradition.  I wish I knew how to change it but there’s a vast wall of indifference out there which makes it even harder. Only scandal on a gigantic scale is likely to shift the dial. Maybe the way Covid is being handled will be the trigger?  60,000+ excess deaths?  Where’s the outrage though?

Don't you think that the rush here to unlock has more to do with financial lobbying that medical and scientific advise??I know we can't stay locked down forever, but the whole thing has been an utter shambles.  Sorry to be a doomonger.. again.. but the behaviour and many thousands of people over the weekend, according to the press, shows that very strong measure are needed to take the good things that have come out of all this.It's just all about lobbying, money, bungs to political parties, I really don't know what can be done unless "the people" can make some kind of a stand that can't be ignored.  I'm not talking about riots and anarchy, but how can this be achieved??  The powers that be, on all sides, take little notice. :(

Yes. That would be the sensible approach. The trouble is the current US administration and the interests that fund iut are unlikely to support this. Hasn't Trump already said he wants to return to the "old normal"? That may be unachievable and with what's going on in the US currenty where is the US heading?
