The Real Enemy

Please can we stop snapping at each other, indulging in personal attacks and delving into posters' personal lives and habits. Criticising politicians and public figures is part of our democratic rights which we are lucky to have - try exercising them in Russia or China. Also quite right to condemn bad behaviour in our community. But we all face a far greater enemy in Covid 19 so yes we are or should be in this together.

Jane I agree with you, it seems that the press are starting to bash the Govt for the virus, which is ridiculous.  Also the many thousands of people now going out in this lovely weather are behaving as it they're being punished for being asked to staying in or take care, which is also ridiculous.I believe that everyone has enough information now to make wise decisions, I personally prefer to keep away from anybody and sanitise anything I may touch whilst shopping.This is a very tricky time and we'll hope that from Monday on all will be well..... but I'm not taking my chances.

Good point, Ed. I think I said in a post previously it's a mistake to treat the virus as a enemy. It doesn't "think" or hate us like a real enemy. We're just a useful host; it doesn't deliberately want to harm our kill us - in fact those who are asymptotic are likely to propagate it the most ...

I agree with you apart from the virus bit.Other countries have had far better success than the UK.I would say a lack of honesty and transparency are the real enemies.Viruses will always be here, it how we deal with them that matters!

Jane, I agree with you.  Too many threads turn into personal attacks, whatever the opening topic.  Unpleasant and unnecessary - and distracts from the dangers we all face of this uncontained threat of catching this virus.
