clapping

I would now like to clap for the bin men of Wandsworth - they come quietly each week and take away our rubbish. I would like to show my appreciation to them.

Clapping our NHS heroes is the default position for me.  However, the bin- men, the people who deliver my groceries and all the other delivery drivers (especially Richard from Hermes) are all heroes to me because I have to have everything delivered and I couldn't live independently without them. It's impractical (and silly) to clap them but I do make a point of thanking them personally every time they come to my door. P.S. There are also two forum heroes who collected food donations from me and took them to drop off points, one of them came on a bicycle! 👏🏻😉

I've called out 'thankyou' and received a lovely smile in return.I've seen messages in windows and on bins.  Many of these are colourful paintings done by children.  Also chalked messages on pavement.

I have already left a thank you note and I like the idea of slipping a tip but these lovely people come well before I am awake - so I don't know how to go about this.

Slip 'em a fiver, totally not allowed by the Council, but who's telling tales.  I know several people who've left a little 'gift'

Or perhaps a "Thank you" card taped to the dustbin lid? Or a notice in the window?

In our street we already clap them on the day they come. I think this is probably more effective, however as they come at varied times, the clapping can be a bit ragged.

I agree. Which day would you suggest? Or should we just clap on the day the bin men come to our particular street?
