You can read here about what one school and their alumni are doing making face shields and using a new distribution organisation - Medical Supply Drive - who are also collecting and distributing other donated PPE to where it is needed.https://www.latymer-upper.org/update-coronavirus/The shortages have meant a lot of redistributing of PPE to hospitals etc who need it most.Here is another one:https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/visors-for-front-line-medical-staff-in-hounslow/updates/120196#startIf you read the link you will see that they are not only supporting the hospitals in the area in the link.This is happening all over the country.I'm sorry if you can't be bothered with cut and paste links.  You'll miss out on some great community initiatives from people who can't and won't just sit around and watch.  I have enough trouble just getting the computer to work.

Yes, that's a start considering there is such a tremendous shortage in the NHS. However they also need better pay.  The running down of the NHS has also been brought about by MPs voting against pay rises for nurses.  Pay rises need also to be decent pay rises and the politics involved has meant that those pay rises have had to be fought for very hard and yet been very little - as if just to stand on the record as having been won.  When there are staff shortages it is harder to run s good tight team.

I'm not surprised you weren't aware of it, we weren't either: the announcement was made only two days before, and considering that Florence Nightingale was born 200 years ago, you'd have thought they could have managed a bit more notice.But for me the real issue is that these things, the Thursday clapping etc, are a cheap and easy substitute for the government, instead of properly paying staff and investing more in the NHS.

This is also because it’s 200 years since Florence Nightingale was born. Such a pity that the Florence Nightingale Museum which had been preparing special events for this anniversary is at present (like so many other attractions) closed. Well worth a visit when it does reopen.

I did shine a light and lit a load of candles, didn't notice any of my neighbours doing it.  My sister is a nurse and I did it for her, but perhaps we're getting a bit appreciation weary?  I believe that everyone individually has enormous appreciation, but we are not a nation who loves being told what to do?
