My sister is a dedicated cat lover. She smiles knowingly when I remind her of the old story of how the ancient Egyptians worshipped cats as a god ... and the cats of the world have never forgotten!

On the other hand, our cat (sadly, long since gone) was very interested when a blackbird chick fell on the lawn whilst practising to fly. But when its mother set up a terrific racket in defence of its chick poor Whisky was terrified and backed off.

Interesting.  I haven't seen a kitten like that but I have seen a mouse stand up to face a cat and that was amazing.  Sometimes you read what others write or the cartoons and illustrations drawn in books but until you actually see for yourself...
