Sue. Some advice c/o my wife:https://www.peta.org/living/humane-home/tips-humane-nontoxic-ant-control/but note, some of the things they suggest using as a barrier for the ants may be harmful to cats, you may wish to double check before trying any - for example, caffeine is toxic to cats so I wouldn't use coffee grounds. But disinfectant is especially bad for cats also - I read that yesterday when checking the active ingredient. Also note this is a US site so not all items re commended may be available in the UK. The main trying is to find the food source they're after, remove or blo k access, and also see if you can block access to the house; remove cat food after puss has cinished. I think k boiling water will work as well as disinfectant and, once cool, won't hurt cats.
