Boris Now In Intensive Care🙁

Perhaps this thread can be kept on track. This is about Boris and not all the other crap posted in the previous thread.

I am puzzled until recently Boris was criticised on this site as being morally corrupt and therefore incompetent.  Now suddenly he is the missing messiah!  Hmmmmm...."Hi Guy, no probs. Threads invariably get highjacked, I think it's a twitter-user trait that's hard to break. I agree that Boris has been castigated by most on here because the majority appear to be left-leaning Guardianistas who dislike him, and the Right in general. I find the hate to be rather odd cos Boris is really quite liberal in my opinion. However putting that aside, it is really nice that people are not considering Boris the PM, but just wishing Boris the Human Being well.

I heard a doctor on Radio 4 today talking about exercises he devised for his Mother who sounded as though she was in a similar condition to your partner Jean. Apparently J K Rowling tried them and it helped her.I have had bouts of pneumonia though I know Jean doesn't have that but symptoms are similar. The hospital kept the bed head at a 45 degree angle to keep the lungs open and encouraged deep breathing as soon as practicable as that they said helped to clear the lungs.Good luck to you both.

That doesn't mean others like Raab aren't even less competent. Personally I'd rather have a national government with Starmer leading it temporarily. But that's an "oink, flap" moment, so being realistic, I'd rather see Johnson back in the lead than any of the second rate "yes Sir, three bags of Brexit, please Sir" cabinet he put together. Apologies to Sunak who may be competent but still has to prove it ... I suspect we have lost a leader for a month, or several ... so, apart from the fact we should as human beings wish him well, let's hope he is back at the helm soon.

We haven’t “lost” a leader.  I am confident at this moment in time that the cabinet can make decisions collectively for the benefit of the country.  Let’s face it we have some very fine intellects there.

Lucille: My thoughts are with you and Jean at this time with all good wishes for his recovery. Your account of the progress of his illness is useful in helping us to understand that Boris will probably need a lengthy period of rest and recuperation before being capable of taking over as Prime Minister again. The present vacuum at the top is worrying.

Agree with other posts, Johnson will not be fit for work, and shouldn't even try for his and the countries benefit. Raab is definitely not the person we need in the front at the moment, he just doesn't inspire confidence and appears out of his depth in the daily briefings; and that's before one looks at his track record .... Sunak seems bright and able although untested; Gove, although I dislike him for a number of reasons, seems the obvious choice based on experience and ability compared to most of Johnson's "yes, sir" cabinet; perhaps it's time to give the young blood a chance but the who would be Chancellor? Get well soon, Mr Johnson ...

I must apologise Sue  for 'dragging' your thread away from Boris. Heaven forbid  the rest of us on this public forum shouldn't make a comment about the effects of Coronavirus when we are in the unfortunate position of seeing  it at first hand.  As to Boris being 'in good spirits' - it's doubtful that he can talk much at all currently. From what I've  witnessed it is very painful to speak while seriously suffering from Coronavirus. Taking a breath is bloody hard work let alone  trying to talk.

Thank you Katrina - I haven't rung 111 because I didn't think Jean was that seriously ill even while his breathing caused him some chest pain tbh. He's not got worse but appears to recover for a few days before symptoms return. Rest (sleep  mainly)seems to be the only 'cure' in his case. I was remarking on Sue's thread about Boris because I suspect he will need a long time to recuperate especially recovering from a period in ICU, and that people shouldn't take for granted that this is an illness that you recover from quickly (unless it's a very mild case). Without testing no-one knows for sure nor whether the lungs are permanently damaged as a result of Coronavirus.It's a good sign that Boris  doesn't need invasive treatment while in ICU but he will be in no fit state to govern the country for  quite some time. Some one should be appointed to take over his responsibilities for his and our sakes. Raab really isn't the man for the job imo.

I hope Boris gets better soon. Up the top of Sweden they never had the virus, my son has a cold and fatigue. He just told me there are about now a hundred cases 2 in an old peoples home. They haven't shut anything or schools, that's right up in Vindeln the top of Sweden the nearest town is Umea.

There is a real chance that when he finally comes out of hospital he will need an extended period of recuperation.  I hope he uses it wisely.  Meanwhile we need an acting PM and Raab is not the man.  Having said that I am not sure who I would choose in his place.

Sorry to drag the thread back to Boris. This morning's update is that he is still in intensive care but had a comfortable night, is breathing unaided and he is in good spirits.  Hopeful news for a good recovery.

Thanks Jonathan - under normal circumstances I would refer him to a GP but of course they are overwhelmed so we will just do what we can at home. Rest (he's sleeping a lot) and time are the only  solutions and I'm just relieved  he hasn't developed pneumonia.

Thank you David. That is very kind. It's stressful to say the least and I do worry  that people say they have the virus and recover quickly from it and that raises hopes that this is no worse than flu. Jean says he's never experienced anything like it.

My partner's experience of this awful virus (he's now into the 4th week of suffering with it) is that the fatigue  wipes you out and the chest pains reoccur every few days or so, albeit not as  badly as during the  initial 10 days. Boris will need a fair bit of time to fully recuperate. It seems to me a great shame  we do not have a deputy PM at this  critical period  in our history. Raab is not the man for the job.

I pray for his recovery, but he will need to convalesce for some time and if he tries to get back in the saddle too quickly if will affect his health.Ironic that BoJo's qualities of "up and at 'em" might kill him if he can't be made to rest and recuperate sufficiently to get good health back.  I hope he has people around who'll make him do it.

Update just heard on LBC. Boris has stabilised and it's been confirmed he doesn't have pneumonia.  Thank god.

I am sure we all wish him well and hope he makes a full recovery. This is a shocking and concerning turn of events at a time of crisis when the country needs to be sure its government has got a firm grip.

I have such a bad feeling about this.  If you have a faith please pray for Boris, if you don't please send him good vibes.Let's not forget Carrie either, pregnant and alone with symptoms. Poor girl must be so scared and worried sick about her partner.
