The virus took form in a wet market. These are common all over SE Asia so it could have started anywhere in the area if not in China. MARS was a similar virus and came from camels I believe so no China connection. Ebola is another similar virus and no China connection there either. The viruses are out there and will mutate wherever poor hygiene and bad animal containment and slaughter practices prevail.

Totally agree and we were wrong and learned not to do again. But the Chinese have been warned over many years that sooner or later a virus would jump species and cause a human pandemic. They didn't listen.They still even now have bat, snake and God knows what markets.

SARS H5N1 now covid, all started in China, on twitter someone pointed out that with their track record, the world should have quarantined China back in December/January time in order to save the world a lot of pain.

Simon, as a veggie I'm not going to defend many of their their eating habits and animal welfare standards but one should also remember the large number of China's Buddhists who are vegetarian. I'm sure the Daily Fail's reporting is accurate and unbiased ...
