Heathrow dropping to one runaway next week

I saw this in the Mail. But no info on which runway they'll use,  whether there will be any alteration at all.I have to admit that the lowering number of planes gong over is a big postive from the current situation.  Especially because we are in the garden a lot.

Haha, same Andy.  The planes never usually bother me, but I’ve had to start wearing earplugs because of the birds!

Funny but the planes never disturbed my sleep got used to them I suppose. But these blinking birds singing outside my window at dawn are waking me up !! How the body tunes in or out of different sounds..

I noticed more planes yesterday morning - so wondered if it was a weekend thing, more planes flying, or an effect of runway alteration.  It has certainly been blissfully quiet the last couple of weeks!I hadn't looked at the flight patterns yet - but a guardian article reminded me of my thought:https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/26/its-blissful-people-living-under-uk-flight-paths-savour-plane-free-skies-coronavirusWouldn't it be amazing if re-siting Heathrow was reviewed again?

The story on the front page of this site clarifies: Runway alteration is proposed to be on a weekly basis. Lets hope we get the weeks with good weather!

I just hope that when the whining, whingeing Holland-Kaye holds out the begging bowl the govt will tell him to put up, shut up, and go to Heathrow's billionaire foreign owners who have paid themselves mega dividends.Similarly, rather than expecting the tax payer to bail out Virgin Atlantic, billionaire Branson should flog his Caribbean island and put a stop to his boy's-toy spacecraft adventures.The peace in the skies over Putney (helped by the recent east wind) has been sheer bliss. I suppose we should spare a thought of sympathy for Theresa May whose policy was to inflect on us a 56% increase in aircraft movements at the ill-sited airport and which, for the time being at least, has vanished.

Many are wondering what the longterm effects of this crisis will be when/if it ends. Perhaps a "One less runway for Heathrow" campaign may start? (Just a fantasy not a real suggestion).

Meanwhile it has been shown that many birds living in urban areas sing (or squawk) more loudly so they can be heard over the noise of human activity and machinery.  Maybe that’s why we can hear them all so clearly while we’re in lockdown.  Even the bees seem to be buzzing more loudly. I hope Heathrow keep alternation though there are so few flights currently it’s difficult to know what they’re doing.
