LIFE WITHOUT SACKS

WBC phone system is even more a merry-go-round than in pre Coronavirus days. I rang, seeking some recycling sacks, having previously had no luck requesting them online. A voice comes up (eventually) offering two push-button options. One pushes the correct button, and the same voice comes up again, offering exactly the same options. This could go on 24/7 for ever and ever. I know sacks are not the highest priority, but there is a need to maintain hygiene. I also gather that the WBC office is closed, so one can't pick them up there.

Bunny, I couldn’t agree with you more. Very poor indeed by the Mail, even by their standards. The “clue” in the story was that it was bin collection day just as the council said. But they ran the “story” anyway. But it wasn’t that long ago that some people, including a few on this forum, were getting stuck into the Beeb for alleged bias and being riddled with leftie metropolitan elite types. Suddenly they are a key national institution again. One suspects that once the crisis is over then Cummings et al will start sharpening their knives again.

The Daily Fail just LOVES destruction and mayhem and writes (very badly researched) articles to this effect.I urge everyone to seek out honest reporting, or maybe just log on the news once a day, we really don't need to be saturated with constant gloom and doom, which probably is just sensationalist "journalist" news.  Stick to the BBC and friends and fam xxx

Story on the Daily Fail website (saw on Twitter) shows apparently rubbish on the street in Putney. Bin day today and everything taken. More Daily Fail bluster but it might be a bit like this in a few weeks? Just seen they are now also suspending picking up garden waste and you cant take it yourself to riverside - so what's to be done - a spot of fly tipping ?

Funny you should bring this up. After an on-line request around 5 weeks ago a couple of rolls appeared in our porch this morning.Prior to this we've been using black sacks with a large note taped on saying: Recycling (no sacks).As to whether they chuck into recycling bit of wagon or landfill is down to them then.Good luck.
