Sainsbury's and Waitrose had long lines of people waiting to get into their shops today. But Poundland only 2 people waiting outside. This was lunchtime, but plenty of toilet rolls, food and washing powder. But waiting to get in Sainsbury's didn't take that long. They let in about 7 people each time.

I was sent this link by a neighbour ie various establishments at new covent garden from whom you may buy fruit, vegetables and some essential items. They have had to diversify as they are no longer supplying the restaurant trade. I haven't tried ordering anything but a friend bought a box from one company (and shared with a neighbour) She said everything was very fresh. I'll try can copy the link. I drove to Sainsburys Werter Rd today and parked in the underground car park.  Few people upstairs queueing but not waiting long I think.  Everyone in the shop very safely distanced.Just one thing I'd like to say.  Chatting to the nice young checkout guy (through his Perspex screen) and said well done you, doing a great job.  He said "I wish everyone felt like you".  He'd had quite a lot of nastiness and complaining, he told me I was only the 3rd person who'd thanked him.  Come on people, let's be kind and thank the people who are keeping our food going...

Hi Nick, I signed up for Ocado last week and got told that I couldnt make a booking as they were prioritising existing customers and that they would email me when i could start booking.Just at ramdom last night i thought i'd see if anything had changed and amazingly there were slots available. I've checked my email and hadnt received anything from them so not sure why I was able to book.I did just login again and i can see there's no slots for the next three days by the looks of it.ho hum, guess I got lucky

That's amazing.  We were told a week ago we'd be contacted by text/email when a priority slot opened up - but nada.  What time did you look/try ?

This all sounds promising. Perhaps the feeding frenzy has peaked and hopefully the supermarkets will be back to normal soon.

We went for the wrinklies hour shop at Sainsbury’s. Very few people around, no queues, got everything we needed.  They had opened first for NHS staff, had very few, then opened for older folk, still not busy, so opened for everyone, all between 8.00 and 8.30. Very efficient, nice staff, no problems with social distancing.

Social distancing alive and well at savacentre ( had to get some bits to drop outside a friends in that area) and pretty well stocked shelves.The staff organising the flow excellently with a 10 minute or so wait to enter the shop itself.

And were the people waiting outside Sainsbury's and Waitrose maintaining proper social distancing? If they weren't, it would make me want to stay well away.

I went on the Ocado website last night and they had free slots for today, so placed and order and received nearly everything we asked for, only 3 substitutions :)
