However, if Russians die early because of poorer health one might expect younger Russians in there 40s or 50s to be in poorer health and more vulnerable to the more serious effects of COVID-19. But there could be other factors: do Russians travel less, drink on their own more rather in pubs, or are they doing fewer tests and attributing deaths to underlying causes rather than COVID-19?
