Can The Army Help In The Present Crisis?
For example by preventing panic buying? Despite Government diktats to stop this stupid selfish behaviour it continues to happen. The supermarkets are attempting to limit the amount of individual items shoppers can buy but it clearly isn't working. The supermarket cashiers/workers are being verbally abused when they try to implement the rule, and customers are becoming angry and confrontational with each other. I think it's now time to robustly enforce the rules by using the *Army. *They could stand at supermarket entrances checking that the elderly and NHS workers are given unhindered access at the times designated for them without being barged out the way by others trying to get in too. *They can also check shoppers' trollies and remove surplus items for the shelf stackers to return to the shelves. Whilst some aggrieved shoppers would give a cashier abuse I doubt they would do the same when faced by a burly squaddie. *They could also be used to check that pubs and restaurants etc are not flouting the shutdown rules, and also to disperse crowds in public places land parks rtc. These are all draconian measures but they may be the only way to keep the population as safe as possible.
