Coronavirus

The Eyes of Darkness by Dean Koontz, written 40yrs ago. In around 2020 a pneumonia like illness will spread attacking the lungs and bronchial tubes and resisting all known treatment. Almost more baffling than the illness itself will be the fact that it will suddenly vanish as quickly as it arrived and will attack again ten years later and then disappear completely. Also in the book was the flesh eating Necrotizing fasciitis 10yrs ago, which seemed to disappear with heat.

re life expectancy - Spain scores 82.8 v Italy 82.5 %  hardly a massive difference in the scheme of things

what people dont realise is that there are a high amount of Chinese people living there and not in great conditionsThey are the 'cheap labour' in Italy and  have been for a whileThe majority of manufacturing  is done by Chinese labour and the fashion industry especially is reliant on itRemember that the next time you buy clothes by a designer that is 'made in Italy'!

I think a lot of us have underlying problems and there have been other nasty coughs, colds and sore throats around at the end of last year to get rid of.I guess we just have to try and eat well and try and improve our immunity to it.  The majority of us apparently are Vitamin D deficient which I certainly was after a really busy and exhausting round of caring.

Well obvs someone from China went to Italy, I would have thought.  It's really worrying me as I have underlying health problems.Also, I wish I'd watched fewer zombie movies when I was younger!!

There was a flu pandemic in 2009.No-one knows how this one will behave.  We were surprised some years ago that aged FIL didn't catch flu because the flu jab chosen and given that year was thought afterwards to be the wrong one and we came to the conclusion that he must have antibodies gained from an earlier bout of it.

"Flawed logic. Spain has the highest life expectancy in Europe and has about 600 confirmed cases. Italy has almost 6000."True, but Spain may be in an earlier stage in the spread. And, to cover myself for still being wrong later, that may protect Spaniards because the weather will be warming up now, which apparently the virus may not thrive in.

Do we know how consistent testing is across European countries? I've heard someone say Italy has carried out more tests and earlier than other countries thus identifying more cases - I don't know if that's true but could they be finding less serious cases not being identified by countries with less active testing? In those countries carrying out fewer tests are deaths being put down to the other underlying causes rather than unidentified COVID-19 infections? Or is Italy just a random statistical blip ... don't know, "just sayin'" 😸
