Jonathan. I wonder if Corbyn standing down immediately would have been such a good thing. Given Johnson's majority there seems little in a practical sense the opposition can do to delay or stop him and his cabinet of yes men and women from charging on without a coherent plan - or is it Cummings's plan for becoming unelected dictator out of the confusion? Corbyn staying does maintain a certain stability within his party - had he gone and left it leaderless would it have descended into a period of infighting without a leader? With Corbyn staying on he can participate in PM's question time aloof from the leadership contest and hopefully there'll be a relatively calm period while the next leader is chosen without the party falling apart? Not sure, just a thought ... perhaps it'll all descend into chaos next week! But a weak opposition means bad government, mistakes happen when decisions aren't challenged or - more seriously - are suppressed. I've seen several IT disasters where people are ignored or sidelined, or even fired for pointing out wrong decisions.PS - leave the moths out of this - insects are our friends 🙂
