Whirlpool/Hotpoint/indesit - product safety issue

AgainThis time washing machinesCheck their website..... and if you do have one you have to wait till January earliest.What a joke

Apparently there have also been reports of owners of faulty machines being asked to sign non-disclosure agreements.Reductions in standards and lack of enforcement are not in all of our best interests.  Just think of all those people not on the internet like the elderly living on their own with carers who are not aware of the problems and even if they were won't be able to check and see the miniscule print on the machine.  They may well only have 15 minute care visits.

Utterly ridiculous response.It’s not about ‘panicking ‘ it’s about following good advice and caring for your loved ones and the community.I hope no one suffers as a result of your blase, arrogant, ‘no-one tells me what to do’ attitude.

On the basis that 79 of 500000 have caused a fire and my sons machine has worked perfectly fine for the last 2 years I will work on probability  rather than panic but thanks for the advice.

I think that advise is utterly reckless and I hope your son and everyone else ignores it.To run the risk of a fire starting in the machine, which may be impossible to contain and result in damage, injury or death to people in the property and any adjoining properties, is beyond acceptable or believable.Fires can also start as a barely perceptible smouldering which takes a while to catch hold.Follow the advise given - only use in an emergency and on a cold wash which does not activate the heating element.Please check this advise and then FOLLOW it.And complain loudly, repeatedly and vigorously for these machines to be removed by the company and a full refund given. Do not accept replacement parts, or fob offs.Stick together, co ordinate and kick up a fuss.Do not jeopardise anyone’s safety.Remember Grenfell. Remember the Grenfell community, they have just received another unbearable blow.Take care of each other.

Whirlpool have said that they can't do anything until January and to not use your Hotpoint or Indesit washing machine or if you have to only on the cold cycle.  There are also still thousands of the problematic tumble dryers in people's homes.  Please check out the info.  These things are dangerous. Our recall systems don't work and Trading Standards who used to deal with these matters may be impossible to find any longer.Also dangerous are other electrical items bought online which do not comply with our standards and which may be cheap and unbranded.  See Which? magazine.  Many of these companies are also referred to as 'freeriders' because they avoid the taxes they should be paying.

no, but considering that if it does go wrong then a fire will break out, i don't want it to go wrong. That is why there is a product recall - to prevent it going wrong and more fires happening

AndyMine is affected, but i have to be honest even if it was not i have decided i do not trust their products anymore. They have had too many things go wrong. Mine was only bought last year and when you consider the fact that there was the tumble dryer issue AND Grenfell before that time, you would think safety testing would have increasedWhat surprises me is that there is not any legislation in place that if an item is faulty, then you are entitled to a full refund - it seems to be the case with clothes for example but not things that catch fireAmerican companies seem to just buy up European ones and just ruin themSo now, i am going to be buying a new machine and even more annoyingly i will be having to pay for my Hotpoint one to be taken awayI chose it last year based on a Which? surveyRant over

Checked mine affected model but not the serial number so that's good news. My son on the other hand has one thats oart of the recall. Registered with Whirlpool and awaiting developments.I have suggested he continues to use but with caution ie not overnight or when they are out of the house.

This company is the epitome of a really dodgy, multinational.Legal action to attempt to blame users for not cleaning their machines properly when it was a design fault.Gagging orders on people who received compensation as a result of their machines going on fire causing serious injury to people and damage to property.One of their machines was the start of the Grenfell inferno.And still they continue with their shoddy, shabby, shi**y treatment of customers. Who wants to have anything to do with them now?Who would trust them an inch? No one, obviously.They need to give full refunds and take their disfunctional and dangerous machines out of people’s homes.How do you even check whether your machine is affected when the serial number is on the back of the machine and a lot of people can’t access that without getting a tradesman in?They are a shower of ........ fill in the blanks, I’m desperately trying to avoid foul language!Let’s see how long that lasts.
