Corbyn As Caretaker PM

I heard on LBC today a senior SNP MP, Stewart Hosie, say that his party would be prepared to back Corbyn if he brought a no confidence vote against the government. Swinson is still sitting on the fence. There is speculation the vote will be tabled next week and could even happen on Monday. Should Boris lose are you all ready for a Marxist in No 10? 🙀 God forbid.

You obviously don't remember being woken up on the train in the middle of the night by police and customs checks when crossing borders. But anyway, by concentrating on the relatively minor issue of movement, you miss entirely the point about working and living in Europe.

That would be a hell of a lot of legislation to pass as a caretaker Prime Minister, who will be in office very temporarily "for the sole purpose of securing a Brexit extension and then calling a general election".Mind you, I suppose that your fears may be right. Corbynite cells may have been created in the security services, the police, and the armed forces. Any bets?

And, as it says, it was working at the abattoir that made him become a vegetarian. He worked as a teacher for two years with the VSO in Jamaica, and also worked in union positions before becoming an elected representative. Probably more varied experience than some corporate accountants, management consultants and lawyers - or opinion writers - who enter parliament. Still most people with solid entrepreneurial business experience - Alan Sugar, Martha Lane Fox, etc - are in the Lords.

You're probably right Bunny. We all know JC is a Brexiteer at heart but he's being pulled in the opposite direction by his MPs who will do anything to get into government. Which of course is the aim of any opposition party.During a discussion about this on LBC today somebody asked if an interim prime minister would actually move into No 10 and apparently they would, even if it was only for a few days!  How ridiculous.

Irrespective of who is PM in the event of the government losing a no confidence vote, as I understand it this would just be a temporary arrangement until the requirement of the "Benn Bill" to extend A50 is carried out in a lawful manner. Even if JC is the temporary PM, I think the SNP, Greens and LibDems - not forgetting any Tory renegades - will keep him inline until a new election. I seem to remember posting a while ago that if Johnson became too extreme in his actions there might be unintended consequences? It could be JC's opportunity to show his leadership and statesmanship abilities unlike Johnson's bullying tactics? (I did once warn bewasre of what one wishes for, unless it was another forum?)
