Paddle Boarding on the Thames

Paddle Boarding on the Thames in September, are you sure? Nothing to do with the time of the year. My other half rowed in the Great river race for many a year up to Poplar from Twickenham. They rowed in an old life boat that was really heavy. Woman in small rowing boats have even turned over. I don't think they realise how strong the current  is, even we have been to ATYC at North Dock, Canary Wharf. You go up in the air and slam down again, and our boat is a 34ft. You only need a speed boat going pass being clever and that is it, over you go. The Thames isn't as nice as you think ask the RNLI.

Bunny, up in London the firms that do the pleasure ribs go along at such a speed, we were with our boat club and one of the ladies we know was with us held up her Police Badge to make them slow down. One other boat was trying to be clever and kept darting in between us all, we were rocking all over the place, I was holding on for dear life. Also you have the Clipper's and Ferry Boats, how they will shut the whole Thames I don't know.

Not the same subject really, but when I've been down to watch the Boat Race, I do have a mean snigger when I see people on the shoreline who then get soaked when the wash from all the little following boats get them.  Unkind but hilarious.

Also after reading the front page again, even if the RNLI or a Police boat are on a call out look out for the wash.
