Avengers - Endgame - only film showing at Odeon Putney

Is it me or is it odd that no other film appears to be showing at our local cinema until next Wednesday? With this kind of weather, a little more choice of movie would be welcome - but no, it is Avengers (on all 3 screens!) or nothing.

I'm no film snob.  I've seen most of the Avengers films and enjoyed them.Problem is I've now seen Endgame.  It went on a bit but I enjoyed it.I guess whilst it's still packing them in I have to wait for other films to be shown.  Bit frustrating that it's in so many screens with so little choice.  It's in every Odeon in the west end too.  I've an unlimited card with Odeon but, ironically, this is pretty limited.

Go to the Olympic studios to see it instead.  I have seen it twice...so far ;-)

I would highly recommend them, James.  Three hours of enjoyable, fun and comedic escapism, by all accounts - although I’ve still not seen it as it remains sold out.  The previous Marvel films have been brilliant for kids, families and any adults who want a break from the misery, tedium and general negativity that often seems to abound...needless to say some people on here would hate them ;)

Out of interest, was it a sellout on all 3 screens?My son went to see the film in Fulham.  He said it was pretty much full there.

One of the early posts called it a children’s film. Go and have a look.Not that I need to defend myself regarding your replies, I’m happy to say I’ve never seen any of these films and have no interest in ever doing so. Not my thing at all. Fantasy films are not my cup of tea but to be disdainful of them is laughable. Mentioning a play rather than a film being live streamed to a cinema that you plainly see as superior that’s only showing for one night rather proves a few of my original points.

Tough it out for a few days. Civilisation will return. Your highbrow low box-office attended films will be back soon enough. 🧐Well next Tuesday 'Highbrow'  NT Live 'All my Sons' by Arthur Miller from The Old Vic' is virtually sold out in Putney. Seats still available in Fulham Broadway Vue.

Ok. You’re old fashioned 😏 Marvel comics are cross-generational. These movies don’t become record breaking blockbusters off the back of children or their parents paying to watch them. The fact that a cinema would show this film in such a saturated amount of showings is evidence of the fact that they are popular beyond comparison to any more ‘worthy’ film. Being sneery about it is ridiculous. Tough it out for a few days. Civilisation will return. Your highbrow low box-office attended films will be back soon enough. 🧐

I suspect that's because Marvel began as comic books aimed at children and teens.  Call me old fashioned.

It isn't snobbish to suggest that a three-screen cinema might show three films of different types to appeal to a wider audience.

Perhaps give Fulham Vue a try. It's £6.99 per ticket, all day every day, only minutes from the tube station, and has lots of screens showing different films.

Since the Putney Odeon was revamped it hasn't had much I want to see. A pity as previously I regarded it as an asset. No longer.

If it is snobbish not to want to see Avengers-Endgame, then I'm a snob. The Olympic Cinema in Barnes and Curzon Wimbledon usually have a selection. I have heard that "Woman at War" is worth seeing.

I’m no fan of fantasy films but well done for being a complete snob about the fact that this film is one of the best box office performers of all time. How many films did you miss while this has been showing by the way? Must have been very upsetting for you.

No, it isn't just you! Many good films about at the moment but it seems we can only watch three-hour children's films.
