As an article in the FT stated a couple of days ago, this more about the Eu than Brexit, where I agree the uncertainty caused by an EU (and the remainders they control in our Parliament,) that cannot afford to let us go, is far more damaging than Brexit itself.Loss of face is unthinkable for the Japanese, who have a far more transparent corporate culture than Europe.  The real story seems to be that the Qashqai had suffered engine failures for years, (article in the Guardian) and Diesel SUV sales were in freefall, due to punitive EU fuel/emission taxes, ironically the initial cause of the Yellow Vest protests. What no one in the MSM transcribed was the video from the end of last year, where Nissan CEO HIroto Saikawa confirms that Chair Carlos Ghosn has been arrested along with Greg Kelly for alleged financial misdemeanours. Nissan have formed an alliance with Renault, largely owned by the French government.Saikawa confirms that an investigation will take place and that there have been problems in terms of governance.  "When the top of Renault is concurrently serving as the top of Nissan, with 43% of shares, one person has too much authority, and that was the problem".Hence a number of reasons to return promised production to Japan, where diesel tax is less than the UK, and closer to the growing car markets in India and China. The whole issue seems to have been built on May's promises behind closed doors to Nissan, with the X-Trail already being built in Japan anyway.  No actual jobs lost in Sunderland thank goodness, just those that might have been promised.

If we leave the EU, certificates, qualifications and licenses etc gained in the UK will no longer be valid in the EU.  This document explains it, specific to aviation:https://ec.europa.eu/transport/sites/transport/files/legislation/brexit-notice-to-stakeholders-aviation-safety.pdfThat is why Rolls Royce is moving its design approvals out of the UK.  It is why EasyJet has moved some pilots to different licenses: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-08-31/easyjet-moves-pilots-to-new-licenses-to-stem-no-deal-brexit-riskIt is why the European Medicines Agency was moved out of London: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Medicines_AgencyIt is why the UKs MHRA will 'take over' responsibility for licensing drugs for use in the UK:https://www.pharmaceutical-technology.com/features/brexit-and-the-pharmaceutical-industry-no-deal/ , although I don't know where they will get the money or employees from when the market they will be testing for will be so much smaller than the rest of the EU27: http://www.pharmafile.com/news/518517/mhra-loses-ema-contracts-wake-brexitIt is why UK driving licenses will no longer be recognised in the EU27: https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-5463877/UK-driving-licences-not-recognised-EU-Brexit.htmlMany of these types of tests, registrations, certifications etc are, in effect, outsourced by the UK to specific institutions based all over the EU, some of which are/were in the UK.  The 'quality' of that certification is reciprocated across the whole EU e.g. a university degree gained in the UK holds the same weight as a degree from another EU institution.  If we leave the EU, we need plans in place to do all that type of work ourselves, to ensure whatever it is is compliant to whatever regulations the UK has in place.  A second certification for UK-made goods would then need to be requested and paid for from the EU equivalent, so that particular thing could then be used in the EU27.Drug companies, for example, would look to go to market in the EU before even thinking about the UK, as the UK market is so much smaller than the rest of the EU27.  This is why there are concerns that the UK would fall behind in cancer treatments, for example. These reciprocal arrangements underpin many aspects of our daily lives.  Leaving them to forge some undetermined future on our own is simply madness.  How would leaving the EU benefit me?  It won't.  Stop Brexit.
